Welcome to the
Erie Lackawanna Historical & Technical Society

The founding members of the Erie Lackawanna Historical & Technical Society would like to welcome and invite you to become a charter member in a bold new concept in rail historical societies, but which still retains the benefits of more traditional organizations. We are dedicated to applying the most appropriate technologies and methods to disseminate the history and information of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, the Erie Railroad, the Erie Lackawanna Railway and their constituent and affiliated lines.

The Erie Lackawanna Historical & Technical Society was founded on the principle of encouraging active participation and contribution to the benefit of all members. We believe all of our members have something significant to offer be it historical research, anecdotal memories, a well executed modeling project or various other means of projecting and preserving the history of the railroads.

Even though we are a young organization, we already count among our membership noted historians, authors, superb modelers, many former employees and railfans. Being a published author isn't a requirement though, it might be you are curious to learn more about the railroad you grew up near or what the history of the rail line, active or abandoned, you live near today. The ELH&TS accommodates all levels of interest equally.

Our initial focus will be to use the Internet as our primary means of publishing. This allows us to overcome restrictions imposed in a more traditional printed publication and provide more in depth coverage of topics. Without the burden of the expense of a printed publication we can maintain the cost of membership at a very reasonable rate yet still provide our members with significant value.

The ELHTS has merged with the ELHS. Membership in the ELHTS is no longer available.
